Marcus Stephens


I am the resident scenic designer of the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival where I am currently designing my 10th season. My regional theater credits include Hairspray, and The Hot Mikado (Drury Lane Oakbrook); Orpheus Descending and Don Giovanni (Eugene Opera); When the Messenger is Hot (59E59 Theater, New York); Fully Committed (Madison Repertory); First Look Repertory and The Elephant Man (Steppenwolf Theater Co.); The Marriage of Figaro (Remy Bumppo); Woyzeck (Greasy Joan & Co.); Dead End (Griffin Theatre); Moby Dick (Building Stage); and Harper Regan, Parlour Song, and Breathing Corpses with Steep Theatre, and The Master and Margarita at Grinnell College. I am scenic design faculty at the University of Notre Dame where I design and paint departmental productions, mentor design students, and teach scenic design, scenic painting, intro to theater, as well as other theater/writing related courses. I have also worked as a commercial scenic designer and model builder and hold an M.F.A in Scenic and Lighting Design from Northwestern University.
